Historical image archive online at Google


Google Internet puts the full picture archives of the American magazine Life on the Internet. The photos and illustrations offer a look at the news and everyday life from the 50s of the 18th century.

According to Google is now 20 percent of the collection digitized and put online. The rest follows in the coming months. The vast majority of the images has never been previously published. Life is known for his photography.

Historical

Among the recorded material are many historic photographs, including images from the American Civil War (1861-1865), the economic crisis of the years 30 and the race to the moon in 60 years.

The oldest images, from the 50s of the 18th century, are particularly drawn portraits, as the Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti and the British General James Wolfe, who conquered Canada on the French.

The photos are accessible through Google Images, a search engine for images. Users can large framed prints of the photos.
